Job Title: Assistant Maintenance Technician

Department: Maintenance

Reports to: Maintenance Manager / Maintenance Shift Supervisor

Shift: 2nd Shift 3 pm - 11 pm - Must have the flexibility to work overtime and weekends.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Assistant Maintenance Technician performs entry-level general maintenance and repairs as assigned under the guidance of a senior member of the Maintenance Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Under the guidance of a senior mechanic provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production. Assists with scheduled maintenance repairs of production, processing, and facilities equipment.
• Performs Cleaning, Lubrication, and Inspection of facilities equipment.
• Preventative Maintenance of equipment.
• Take care of all breakdown calls for line equipment and robots.
• Ensure proper PMs are done when lines are scheduled down.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor and department manager.
• Mechanic is required to supply their own basic hand tools and a lockable toolbox.
• Perform other duties as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must have a high school diploma or GED and must complete all of the on-the-job training. Must have good mechanical acumen. Some vocational training in mechanical or technical trade is desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to receive thorough instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees. Having the ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Comply with all company safety policies and procedures as well as complying with all OSHA rules and regulations (THINK “SAFETY FIRST”).
• Ability to recognize unsafe acts and conditions in the facility and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Ability to fully complete appropriate paperwork related to specific job functions in addition to quality and safety/training.
• Ability to recognize and report all incidents; even those that do not warrant treatment.
• Review and execute our Food Safety Plan and MFP Mission Statement in order to provide value to each of our customers with safe, relevant, tasty food products; while never comprising quality.
• Adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMPs) including proper waste disposal, attire, grooming, hygiene, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential function of this job.

While performing the day-to-day tasks of this job the employee may stand for long periods of time while using hands and arms to handle and operate objects.

Must be able to lift 50# lbs.

Dependent upon the task, the employee will need to stoop, kneel, crawl, crouch, and/or climb. The employee will be regularly required to talk and listen to others.

The employee will be regularly required to use standard maintenance tools.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The job is performed in a moderately noisy to loud environment with slight exposure to airborne particles. The employee will be in the presence of large operating machinery including forklifts. Due to the proximity to ovens, the employee will be regularly exposed to areas where the temperature exceeds 90 degrees.
