ELECTRO MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Our Staunton, VA facility to looking for an Electro Mechanical Maintenance Technician. This position is responsible for performing machine maintenance and repair for all plant equipment. The technician will follow the direction of the Maintenance Manager and complete work order in an efficient manner.

Primary Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

  • Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electrical and electronic test equipment
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, using test equipment, and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables, using hand tools.
  • Tests malfunctioning machinery, using test equipment, and discusses malfunction with machine operator and other maintenance workers to diagnose malfunction.
  • Replaces faulty electrical components of machine, such as relays, switches, motors, and position sensing devices, using hand tools.
  • Analyze equipment problems and perform a root cause analysis.
  • Ability to follow safe work practices in accordance with company policies, OSHA regulations and electrical code.
  • Work from elevated surfaces such as scaffolding, platform lift, and ladders.
  • Install conduit and wiring.
  • Identify hazards and advise management of dangers associated with operating equipment in current condition.
  • Perform basic metal fabrication using welder.


Required Skills


An individual in this position must be able to learn and demonstrate the following skills;

  • Working knowledge of electronics and electrical systems
  • Good knowledge of industrial maintenance practices
  • Exceptional mechanical inclination
  • Knowledge of plant equipment utilized in folding carton manufacturing.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Use computer systems for basic tasks

Essential Job Functions include the following:

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally (1-10% of the time) lift up to 50 pounds or more up to 60 pounds
  • Frequently (11-33% of the time) lift up to 20 pounds
  • Frequently (34-66% of the time) standing, climbing, kneeling, crouching and walking
  • Occasionally (1-33% of the time) bending, squatting, reaching above shoulder and at waist or lower, twisting, stretching, pushing and pulling (with force up to 45 pounds), carrying, grasping (with a force up to 90 pounds), and fingering
  • Rarely laying on back to complete preventative and breakdown maintenance to perform mechanical and electrical services to ensure plant operations
  • Pushing (Occasionally) horizontal at a self-selected height with a force of 35 pounds indoors on a smooth and inclined surface to complete fabrication of requested items to perform mechanical and electrical services to ensure plant operations.
  • Must be able to wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which includes; safety glasses, steel toed-shoes, ear plugs and cut resistant gloves. Per our quality standards, you must also wear a hair-net.
