Job description

Under minimal supervision, directs and controls the activities of the Maintenance function to ensure that all production and support equipment is maintained at levels that are as efficient and reliable as possible. Ensures that the facility itself is maintained and is a safe work environment.


  • Supervises and directs the maintenance function to ensure that plant and equipment continue to be efficient and reliable.
  • Minimizes unscheduled downtime by monitoring and resolving reoccurring issues
  • Conducts an effective PM and RCM programs by monitoring procedures, frequency of service, etc.
  • Ensures equipment PM is prioritized in such a way to minimize production losses, resulting from both scheduled and unscheduled downtime
  • Provides technical assistance to the maintenance employees in troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Interacts with outside contractors and spare parts suppliers.
  • Supervises Storeroom functions
  • Assists and supports department manager
  • Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety, food defense, and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMPs)/Sanitation policies and procedures. Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5S and other company standards.
  • Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
  • Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5S, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Strives to clearly understand customer requirements and delivers results to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting food safety requirements.
  • Ability and responsibility to stop any process that is not meeting customer quality requirements.


Required Skills

  • Production experience is required and continued education is considered a plus. Must be quality conscious and customer oriented. Technical degree is preferred.
  • Prior field experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance of packaging converting equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must be a leader with exceptional communication skills, good organization, and the ability to motivate people to perform at high levels.
