The Maintenance Supervisor develops the overall plans and assignments for the Maintenance Teams (electrical, mechanical and contractors).
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning and directing the work of maintenance staff to ensure safe and efficient operations of the facility.
The position supervises skilled employees (Mechanical and Electrical Operators) and is responsible for complying with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. The role will coordinate priorities with other site functions.
JOB OVERVIEW:

The Maintenance Supervisor develops the overall plans and assignments for the Maintenance Teams (electrical, mechanical and contractors). The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning and directing the work of maintenance staff to ensure safe and efficient operations of the facility.
The position supervises skilled employees (Mechanical and Electrical Operators) and is responsible for complying with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. The role will coordinate priorities with other site functions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work Order Coordination: With a full knowledge of the Maintenance work order backlog, coordinated planned work with the affected functional groups.
Mechanical Integrity: Ensure PSM compliance, mainly in the area of Mechanical Integrity ITPM (Inspection, Testing and Preventative Maintenance) schedules.
Manufacturing Reliability: Work closely with the plant operations and division resources network to develop, implement and sustain site equipment reliability improvements.
Human Relations: Exemplify the site’s behavioral standards while successfully building, leading and motivating the team of mechanics and electricians.
  • Responsible for supporting individual/team developmental activities to continuously enhance operator skills.
  • Coaches, mentors and supervises hourly personnel for their continuous development / improvement in the department’s activities.
  • Responsible for hiring decisions in accordance with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Project Management: Manage all aspects of assigned projects within the Evonik Active Oxygens LLC codes and standards; coordinate project tasks between differing function groups assigned to or affected by projects.
  • Show visible leadership supporting the sites safety policy and environmental policy.
  • Develop proficiency with the SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module.
  • Utilizing the SAP PM module, obtain a detailed knowledge of the backlog of planned maintenance work orders.
  • Execute the Maintenance schedules for both mechanical and I&E, in accordance with the site work order process and procedures
  • Develop the teams and relationships necessary to coordinate maintenance work with the other plant functional groups
  • Utilizing the SAP PM module and plant Specific Equipment Plans (SEP), develop the schedule necessary to comply with the required ITPM program
  • Lead and/or participate on site improvement teams, using a background of Lean Manufacturing and TPM principles
  • Upgrade troubleshooting maintenance skills
Challenges:
  • Prioritizing varying workload in order to meet deadlines
  • Troubleshooting and correcting mechanical and electrical issues
  • Emergency maintenance activities may, at times, require working nights and weekends to meet production targets
Latitude:
  • The incumbent performs various functions with little supervision while exhibiting sound judgement in determining issues that need the applicable Manager’s attention.
  • Works independently on assignments, generally reviews own work and is accountable for finalized work.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Minimum High School Diploma required with minimum 6-8 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • BSc. preferred (Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering) with minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience managing both electrician and mechanics.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment (Chemical Manufacturing preferred)
  • Five years scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • SAP/PM module experience is preferred (Plant Maintenance)
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong team building and leadership skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Previous experience supervising union employees (nice to have)
