Job description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Requests quotations and place purchase orders, approved by the maintenance manager, for parts and supplies that are requested electronically or from mechanics and supervisors to suppliers.
  • Assists mechanics and supervisors with emergency orders through Manufacturers’ Tech support, customer service, parts departments, drawings and instruction manuals on the internet.
  • Sources parts, manufacturers, and distributors through available resources.
  • Assists with receiving and part storage.
  • Fills in for MRO during vacations or absences.
  • Assists with receiving/inspection of maintenance parts to be distributed or stored. This includes recording shortages, labeling and ID parts, and handling any discrepancies as needed.
  • Acts as liaison between the vendors involved in our organization’s bin stocking programs.
  • Prepares bill of ladings and coordinates with receiving department the maintenance incoming and outgoing (motors for repair from outside contacts & Return Goods Authorization exchanges).
  • Completes all necessary paperwork needed to fulfill purchases or repairs.
  • Generates a weekly status update for pending quotes and purchase orders.
  • Meets with suppliers as needed to investigate sources and pricing as required.
  • Assists in inventory cycle counts.
  • Participates in sensory training and evaluation to help ensure the highest quality of our products.
  • Suggests ways to control labor and supply costs as well as improve processes.
  • Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free work place.
  • Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety-related issues to Management.
  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

Education, Skills and Experience:
Education:
  • High school – GED – or equivalent – some college education preferred

Skills and Experience:
  • Ability to work overtime, irregular hours or rotating shifts.
  • Previous experience in a purchasing environment preferred.
  • Ability to speak, write and understand English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, formulas, and policy and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to write standard information into related paperwork.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to establish trust and credibility with employees.
  • Sound technical skills, logical ability, and strong problem analysis and resolutions skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of diverse individuals within the plant and corporate environments.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is helpful.
  • Ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment.

The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted, and frequently lift and/or move 51 - 80 pounds with lifting equipment or with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job in the plant, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles. Employee may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures that range from below zero (0) degrees Fahrenheit to over ninety (90) degrees Fahrenheit. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. While in the plant, the employee is required to utilize the required personal protective equipment.

Organizational Structure:
The Maintenance Rebuyer will report directly to the Maintenance Manager.
