Maintenance Assistant - Fairbanks, AK

Our Fairbanks Westmark Hotel and Conference Center Maintenance team is looking for their next skilled team member. You will routinely perform maintenance and maintenance inspections to ensure the facilities are clean and in good operating condition.

Responsibilities:

  • Works under close supervision to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Assists in performing inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Observes the operation of facility equipment; reports problems.
  • Maintains records of maintenance activities in the appropriate logs.
  • Performs maintenance duties required by departmental supervision.

Requirements:

  • This job normally requires a level of knowledge in building maintenance equivalent to that which would be acquired through the completion of high school or equivalent certification.
  • Demonstration of directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of the educational requirement.
  • You must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. You will become part of our randomized drug pool.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check.
  • Valid driver’s license for operation of a motor vehicle with a clean driving record. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) of the last three years will be requested.
  • Fireman’s Class Stationary Boiler’s License (within 90 days of hire) and Spa Certification (within 120 days of hire).
  • Forklift driver certification required within six months of employment.
  • Participates in HAP’s sustainability program, aka “Sustain Alaska & the Yukon”, and efforts by actively recycling (where available), reducing waste, and educating guests about our commitment to the environment.
  • Participate in HAP’s safety culture to ensure a safe workplace for all team members and a safe vacation experience for all guests.
  • Dedicated to delivering excellent customer service to all guests, coworkers, and vendors.

Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge:

  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and written, with customers, employees and management.
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, maintain an attention to accuracy and detail, while working in a team or group environment.
  • This job normally requires one year of experience in positions involving building maintenance.
  • Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including all company health and safety standards.
  • Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for minimum of 8 hours per day.
