Description of Work:

This position is responsible for major and minor repairs to facilities, equipment, and vehicles; supervision of Maintenance/Construction Technicians and other sources of labor; maintenance and operation of maintenance areas and water systems. This position manages the general upkeep of grounds, facilities, and equipment and assists park rangers and additional maintenance staff with the maintenance requirements to include, but not be limited to, basic custodial responsibilities, boundary line trimming, prescribed burn assistance, trail construction and maintenance, auto mechanics, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs and complete equipment maintenance. This position must operate large tools and small equipment, work with and be familiar with all small and large tools and is responsible for preventative maintenance on all tools, equipment and facilities. The Maintenance/ Construction Technician III will make purchases in accordance with state purchasing policies as well as perform assigned administrative responsibilities such as record keeping, recording work hours, performance management, and basic operational forms. This position supervises permanent Maintenance/Construction Technicians, temporary maintenance staff and volunteers. This position must assist other maintenance staff in the operation and maintenance of wastewater and drinking water treatment systems and pesticide use.

May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

**To receive credit for your work history and credentials, you must provide the information on the application form. Any information omitted from the application form, listed as general statements, listed under the text resume section, or on an attachment will not be considered for qualifying credit.**

  • Working knowledge and skill performing Maintenance Construction Technician III level trades in at least two of the following: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and/or auto mechanics.
  • Working knowledge and skill in power equipment and small engine operation and repair.
  • Working knowledge and skill in performing preventative facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Working knowledge and skill working from blue prints, construction drawing, technical drawing or graphic instructions.
  • Demonstrated experience working from sketches or pencil drawings
  • Must meet DOA Fleet Safety Guidelines and have ability to obtain and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Within 12 months of hire date, must have the ability to obtain and maintain:
  • A valid class A-Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to drive various classes of vehicles and tractors.
  • A valid Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Certification.
  • A valid CPR Certification.
  • Wild Land Fire Suppression Training
  • Division Sponsored Chainsaw Training
Within 24 months of hire, must have the ability to obtain and maintain:
  • A valid Subsurface Wastewater Certification.
  • A valid C-Well Certification
  • A valid Pesticide applicator’s license
  • Division Sponsored Fundamentals of Search and Rescue Training
A skills assessment may be conducted during interview.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
