POSITION CONCEPT:
This position provides turbine and auxiliaries technical support for operations and maintenance to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the Big Bend Power Station. Provide technical direction and leadership to Maintenance Planning/Scheduling Personnel and Superintendents of Plant Operations, for Combustion Turbines and Controls, and auxiliary equipment at Big Bend Power Station. Provide day to day oversight and outage coordination of the Contractual Service Agreement with General Electric for the combustion turbine generators.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within the limits of authorized objectives, policies, procedures, plans, schedules and budgets, this position has the responsibility and commensurate authority to:

• Provide support for Big Bend Station Safety and Environmental programs and goals.
• Provide daily technical direction and leadership to Maintenance Planning/Scheduling and Superintendents of Plant Operations in solving problems with rotating equipment, combustion turbines/Generators and controls, and turbine auxiliary equipment.
• Provide technical direction, supervision, and assistance to outside contractors and plant personnel for combustion turbines as primary responsibility and all other rotating equipment as directed at Big Bend Power Station.
• Provide support for TEC/GE Contractual Service Agreement including but not limited to daily CSA interface with General Electric CPM, daily activities, outage inspections and maintenance, technical information, parts support, monthly operational data, monthly meeting and 7H Users Group station contact.
• Prepare estimates and provide input to the Big Bend Operating & Maintenance, and Capital budgets. Provide project cost control and input to outage schedules. Assist Generation Engineering Staff with evaluation of equipment for long range planning and budget forecasting including economic justifications.
• Investigate and analyze new products and procedures and direct plant personnel in implementation of the findings. Make design improvements and recommendations to reduce costs, improve operations, enhance equipment life, increase station EAF and reduce fuel costs.
• Provide Station Lead for projects concerning Big Bend rotating equipment, combustion turbines, and auxiliary equipment for maintenance or modifications and follow up as necessary.
• Assist with maintenance outage reports and equipment records on all major repairs or replacements. Maintain OEM contacts and recommendations for rotating and auxiliary equipment.
• Assist with inspections of all assigned equipment during outages or overhauls to evaluate overall condition and document remaining life assessment. Generate work orders for future work. Lead the review of spare parts and PMs for the combustion turbines. Work with maintenance planning to ensure any gaps detected with sparing and PMs are corrected.
• Provide technical support and training to plant operating and maintenance personnel on assigned equipment. Provide support for Big Bend Predictive Maintenance such as, oil analysis, vibration analysis, borescope inspections.

EDUCATION:
Required: A minimum of a high school education is required. Additional technical training specific to area of responsibility is expected.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Minimum of 10 years of work experience related to the Duties & Responsibilities of this position is required. Related experience consists of: working in an industrial environment or facility where the primary responsibility was maintaining industrial sized mechanical and electrical equipment.
College degree may be considered in lieu of equivalent experience of 2 years with an Associate’s degree and 4 years with a Bachelor’s degree.

SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Two years of supervisory experience over contractors and consultants.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Required: Must be able to resolve a variety of issues/topics that are non-routine and complex with complete independence.

WORK CONDITIONS:
Work hours may exceed 40 hour per week where work is executed indoors, outdoors and around hot and audible equipment. Work may be required on the weekend and require employee to remain on call.
