Job description
Fischer Tool & Die is looking for a Boring Mill Operator. Must have previous machining experience, print reading skills, capability to program and determine machining method, and perform necessary inspections. Team environment providing careers; not jobs. The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Understand, adhere, and machine accurately to print tolerances and finish requirements
- Perform in process checking as required using precision measuring tools
- Maintain and utilize resources and equipment in area safely and efficiently, within the Federal and State OSHA standards
- Determine effective methods and resources to achieve desired requirements by operating machine and controls accurately and efficiently
- Must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, deburring
- Machining tooling, components, parts, as required per specifications
- Maintain clear working area and perform assigned machine maintenance as required
- Work with programmers and other department members to improve process, tooling selection, and setup
- Capability to determine tooling condition, and determine if the tooling is running efficiently
- Deburr part, tap holes properly, ensure threads are correct and proper depth engagement, and part is cleaned before moving to next operation
- Perform other work-related duties as required
- Troubleshoot any issues/nonconformance that arises. Start Nonconformance report when required
- Understand employee handbook
- Observe all safety rules & regulations
- Observe quality system requirements
- Support continuous improvement initiatives
- Observe customer, regulatory and statutory requirements
Desired Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Registered Journeyman and/or comparable education
- Experience with numerically controlled machine operation
- Experience with manual machine operation
- Read and interpret prints accurately
- Excellent working knowledge of machining processes and in-depth understanding of tool and die manufacturing
- Knowledge of machining, tool & die, modeling, programming, die cast process
- Good understanding of similar industrial practices (electrical, plumbing, hydraulics)
- Understanding of Federal and State OSHA standards
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Contribute to a team environment
- Ability to multitask efficiently and effectively
- Must possess proficient ability to communicate in English in oral and written format
