Position Title: Machine Operator

Department: Production

Shift: Days (M-F 7:00am-3:30pm) Evenings (M-TH 3:30pm-2am

Reports To (Title): Production Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The machine operator is responsible for set-up and operation of a flatbed die cutting press (Preco,Samco or Travelhead) or other equipment (Slitter, Waterjet, Laserjet or Laminator) to written and/or verbal instructions. Work is generally concentrated on machine(s) and operations may be very repetitive. The operator will have a working knowledge of acceptable product quality, processes and procedures to ensure quality of work.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

• Set up and monitor the machine process to assure quality product
• Ensure productivity goals are met in a timely matter
• Troubleshoot and adjust speed, tension, temperature, and related variables as needed to meet specifications
• Collaborate with other departments for resolution of mechanical problems, reporting of defective material, coordination of job preparations, change overs, and daily shift information
• Follow safety standards and maintain a safe working environment
• Adaptable and willing to do any tasks that gets the job done
• May include other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Two years of operating die cutting presses, laminators, laser/waterjets or similar manufacturing equipment

GENERAL SKILLS:

• Pays close attention to detail
• Proficiency with basic mathematics
• Ability to read blueprints preferred
• Mechanically inclined and production oriented
• Team player who is self-motivated, a fast learner, and shows initiative to seek out customer and production needs
• Ability to work independently, make decisions and solve moderate level problems independently, effectively, and creatively

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficiency with basic computer skills is required. Experience with Microsoft office suite and ERP systems preferred. Epicor experience is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to communicate (read, write, and speak) fluently in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to stand for a long period of time. Great hand/eye coordination, and ability to occasionally lift to 50 lbs. Open to overtime as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position will spend time in a manufacturing environment. The work area in the production environment includes exposure to noise, moving machinery and a temperature-controlled environment. The noise level in the work area is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
