Summary

The 3rd Shift Laser Operator will program and operate tables for cutting sheet metal shapes for fabrication of stainless-steel sheet metal structures with high efficiency and minimal waste while supporting the achievement of established operating objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for material handling of raw material to be cut on the machine.
  • Must be able to read blue prints
  • Operates overhead cranes, following safety guidelines.
  • Responsibility to spot check parts being cut on the table to meet customer’s requirements.
  • Required to complete any and all paperwork relating to job functions.
  • Examines workpieces for defects to ensure conformance with specifications.

Operates company vehicles/equipment in a safe and courteous manner and properly parks and secures vehicles at all times.

  • Obeys traffic laws, and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.
  • Detects faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials and notify supervisors.
  • Operates safety equipment and use safe work habits.
  • Participates in all company training.
  • Follows all company policies, procedures and safety rules. Conduct self at all times in a professional, ethical and courteous manner as a representative of Herr and Sacco.

Education and/or Experience

  • Three to five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Trumpf machines – Preferred.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic shop math.
  • Able to read tape measure.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills

· Basic computer knowledge as required to fulfill requirements of position.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

· Current Driver’s license or ability to provide own transportation.

· Tow Motor Certification.
