What will you do?
In this role, you will process parts through the heat treating stage of the manufacturing process by preparing furnaces for jobs according to part specifications, loading parts into the furnace, monitoring and making adjustments to the heat treating process, removing parts from the furnace, performing quality checks with documentation and maintaining accurate inventory counts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepares parts for furnace, checks and adjusts furnaces to produce parts in accordance with instructions on the production document and prepares parts for the next operation.
- Performs in-process inspection and regular spot checks of parts.
- Read production schedules and work orders to determine processing sequences, furnace temperatures, and heat cycle requirements for objects to be heat-treated.
- Record times that parts are removed from furnaces to document that objects have attained specified temperatures for specified times.
- Adjust controls to maintain temperatures and heating times, using thermal instruments and charts, dials and gauges of furnaces, and color of stock in furnaces to make setting determinations.
- Remove parts from furnaces after specified times, and air dry or cool parts in water, oil brine, or other baths.
- Move controls to light gas burners and to adjust gas and water flow and flame temperature.
- Uses calipers and micrometers to check dimensions of parts to assure finished parts conform to specifications.
- Assures paperwork is accurate and document work.
- Assures that safety precautions are observed at all times including the use of safety glasses, safety shoes, ear protection and machine guards.
- Maintains a safe, clean and well-organized work area.
- Maintain an understanding and remain in compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM.

- Previous related experience preferred
- Ability to work productively with others in a team setting
