Lower School French Teacher (grades 3-6 - ¾ time) for the 2023-2024 school year.

Holton-Arms seeks a passionate, experienced, student-centered
Lower School French teacher. Our Lower School World Language program offers third and fourth-grade students two years of exposure to French, Spanish, and Chinese. Starting in fifth grade, students select one of the three languages to begin a more intensive study. The candidate who fills this position will teach an exposure trimester of French to students in grades 3 and 4, and full-year French to students in grades 5 and 6. The Lower School French teacher will create and implement a spiraling French curriculum in the Lower School and work with the Middle School French teacher to ensure the continuity of the curriculum. The Lower School French teacher needs to inspire a passion for the French language, create a positive learning environment that supports the well-being of students, communicate effectively with students and parents, and work collaboratively with other language teachers in the department, as well as division colleagues and administrators. The Lower School French teacher will also support additional duties in the Lower School. The successful candidate will be prepared to commit to and promote the School’s Mission and the institutional priorities embodied in the School’s philosophy of Learn Well, Live Well, Lead Well and the Diversity Mission Statement.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate for Lower School French Teacher should have:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Education in French, with a graduate degree, preferred
- At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience and curriculum development
- Experience with QTalk is preferred
- Experience with Responsive Classroom is preferred
- Experience embedding Social and Emotional Learning, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging, and Global Competencies into their curriculum
- Passion for working with students in grades 3 through 6
- Commitment to creating a student-centered, project-based, and competency-driven classroom
- Proficiency with technology and digital platforms in the classroom
- Eagerness to collaborate with colleagues within and across disciplines
- Professional working proficiency in other languages is preferred
