Position Summary:

We are searching for a Log Accounting Specialist to join our team, focusing on log procurement and inventory administration. This position reports directly to the Operations Finance Supervisor.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Setup and maintain log purchase contracts in the log accounting system.
  • Import loads received data into the log accounting system.
  • Reconcile load tickets with data imports.
  • Process log purchases to Accounts Payable.
  • Send tickets and statements to log suppliers.
  • Process and record log inventory transactions (consumption, transfers, sales, adjustments).
  • Track estimated and actual log hauling costs for some scenarios.
  • Create weekly and month end reports for management.
  • Provide backup/coverage for other office administrative positions within the team.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficient in MS Office and highly proficient using MS Excel is required.
  • Must have a strong work ethic through self-motivation and effective time management, operate independently but also partner with others when needed, desire to learn new things, and demonstrate customer service traits with internal and external business partners.
  • Proactive in identifying errors, opportunities, and ways to assist others.
  • Superior organization skills with strong attention to detail, keeping all records current, accurate and organized.
  • Ability to shift priorities and manage time effectively, completing a variety of work accurately with changing deadlines and maintaining timeliness.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in log accounting management systems or equivalent.
  • Post High School Education in Accounting/Business Administration
  • An understanding of a sawmill manufacturing operation or similar manufacturing
