Job description
Our Local Government Practice Group is seeking a Consultant to join our team. Project work will include professional consulting services for the Public Sector, including process analysis, organizational assessments, project management, technology and systems planning, implementation assistance for large-scale enterprise system projects, and fiscal studies. Consultants work with a mix of high-performing teams offering constant varieties of projects in a fast-paced environment with many opportunities for career growth.
The individual we seek has the right mix of demonstrated business analyst capabilities, effective written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Experience working with or for Local Government agencies is preferred as well as experience and/or subject matter expertise in related business processes (Finance, Human Resources, Payroll, Community Development, Time and Attendance, Utilities, Revenue etc.) is desirable. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with many different stakeholders within local government. This position can be based in either our Portland, Maine or Waltham, MA office and willingness to travel 35-50% is required.
Responsibilities:- Support the delivery of services to clients on time, within scope, and within budget, including assisting in creating written deliverables and other work products
- Participate in meetings and interviews with client stakeholders and assist in documenting client needs and challenges
- Coordinate and manage the scheduling of meetings
- Facilitate and manage any required meeting follow-up (action items, issues, risks, and decisions)
- Assist in required meeting preparations (agenda, meeting materials, etc.)
- Perform assigned administrative tasks efficiently and effectively, asking questions when instructions are unclear
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS). May substitute four years of applicable experience for degree.
- 2 - 4 years of professional experience.
- Relevant experience in project management, project coordination, and/or research
- Relevant experience documenting client needs, challenges, and assisting in creating written deliverables
- Relevant local government experience either directly working for a local government or providing services to a local government
- Knowledgeable in quality assurance/control procedures and demonstrated proactive problem management skills.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
