Description of Duties:

The Linux Systems Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:


  • Assist engineering efforts that provide engineering and technical direction for patching RedHat Enterprise Linux systems, register systems with Satellite and develop Ansible scripts.
  • Participate in efforts that develop recommendations and advice on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.
  • Support the Shared Services Delivery Team.
  • Work with Solutions Architecture to develop proposals and respond to customer requests.
  • Develop and maintain systems documentation, diagrams, changes, and standard operational procedures.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and issue resolution as necessary.

This position will be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO


This position is expected to pay $127,500 - $137,500 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 14 years of general experience; Associate's degree and 12 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree and 10 years of general experience; Master's degree and 8 years of general experience.


  • Must have 8 years directly related experience in Linux System Administration, Windows System Administration, and/or Help Desk Support
  • Must have 2 years of experience working in a management or leadership role
  • Must have, or obtain upon hire, a current DoD 8570 IAT level II certification
  • Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

  • Have experience with RHEL Satellite
  • Have experience with Ansible Tower
  • Have experience with YUM and DNS Bind
