Overview:
We are looking for skilled and empathetic life coaches that want to make a difference and be part of an amazing and growing team located in Independence, Missouri. Our beautiful and private campus sits out in the woods just northeast of Kansas City, and is an environment that allows our residents to fully unplug and engage in their treatment. Yet, our campus is also just 30 minutes from the middle of downtown Kansas City! This provides a diverse array of opportunities for engagement with our residents.

Join us at Embark at our short-term residential facility at Independence, Missouri where our therapists offer guidance and support to adolescents and their families which includes multi-modal family system approaches to amplify and solidify healthy change.

At Embark Behavioral Health, life coaches will be working directly in the daily lives of our residents. Life coaches collaborate with clinical and academic staff to facilitate success for our residents in their community-based care setting. Scheduling:
  • Life coaches will work 4 shifts and each shift is 10 hours
  • Morning shifts are 6:30 am – 4:30 pm
  • Evening shifts are 12:30 pm – 10:30 pm
  • Night watch shifts are 9:30 pm – 7:30 am
Responsibilities:
As a life coach, you will enjoy the following responsibilities:
  • Providing safety and oversight utilizing Shelterwood’s unique therapeutic program. You’ll also develop competencies in administering medications and restraint techniques. (Training emphasizes de-escalation rather than restraint.)
  • Demonstrating competency with the CASA developmental framework to implement care with our residents. This helps our residents to internalize love and acceptance during their treatment.
  • Initiating, facilitating, and leading activities for recreation and service that are designed to help students develop healthy coping mechanisms, learn new interests, develop empathy, and stronger interpersonal skills.
  • Working alongside teens as they do chores, activities and special projects to build responsibility and integrity.
  • Provide feedback representing the residential team in treatment team meetings where residence, school and therapists plan treatment goals and interventions.
Qualifications:
What do you bring to the position?
  • A college degree and/or experience working with teens is preferred but not required
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Must have a love for teenagers and empathy for the season of life that they’re in.
  • A willingness to develop leadership and initiative to develop relationships with many new people
