Primary Function

The primary function of the Lead Pool Maintenance Operator is to maintain the pool and attraction waters, pool and attraction areas, and pool/attraction equipment in such a way that the pool and attraction areas are safe, secure, clean, operationally efficient, in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations, and available for use throughout business hours. The Lead Operator is also responsible for supervisory duties regarding the Pool Maintenance Operator I and Pool Maintenance Attendant positions.

Reporting and Accountability

The Lead Pool Maintenance Operator reports to, and is accountable to, the Pool Maintenance Manager and Assistant Manager.

Authority

The Lead Pool Maintenance Operator has the support and authority necessary to carry out the responsibilities and tasks described in this job description and other responsibilities of the pool maintenance department, as delegated by the Pool Maintenance Assistant Manager and Manager.

Physical Requirements

• Adequate physical agility to traverse the entire GHSR property for inspection, including climbing stairs, crouching, and entering confined spaces
• Adequate physical agility to perform normal pool and attraction maintenance activities such as climbing ladders, kneeling, twisting, crouching, reaching, lifting, using hand tools, power tools and motorized equipment, and measuring devices
• Able to push, pull, lift and carry up to 60 pounds

• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and give and follow verbal or written instructions, including technical schematics, equipment/process manuals, chemical labels, etc.
• Ability to tolerate being on feet for extended periods of time (standing and walking on hard surfaces)

Educational Requirements

• Any certifications or licenses that are required for performing the specific tasks assigned by management
• CPO Certification - must pass the CPO examine within 120 days of hire
• Specialized training in specific maintenance areas is a plus and may positively affect an individual’s pay grade and/or promotion potential
• Wastewater D, Industrial Wastewater D, and/or Small Systems Certification or the willingness and ability to obtain is required
• Training in leadership and supervision, or the willingness and ability to obtain is required

Other Requirements

• Basic mechanical ability and dexterity
• Basic mathematical reasoning skills such as the abilities to identify proportions and estimate for safety checks
• Prior experience or willingness for on-the-job training in pool maintenance, and in facilities similar to GHSR:

• Adequate computer skills to be able to perform necessary department computer tasks such as equipment operation and installation/repair, logging maintenance activities, inputting time records, inputting preventative maintenance and service information, inputting employee information, designing training tools, etc.

Work Hours

Since the maintenance of the pools and related facilities takes place both during operating and non-operating hours, the Lead Pool Maintenance Operator’s work hours and days must be flexible, including nights, holidays and weekends, to meet the needs of the Pool Maintenance Department. Insofar as is possible, the Pool Maintenance Manager will regulate shift assignments for predictability and to accommodate staff needs.
