MAINTENANCE & FACILITIES MANAGER

Summary

The Maintenance & Property Caretaker is responsible for ensuring that the Big Bear Retreat Center is a safe, secure, and impeccably maintained property (both inside and outside). The Maintenance & Property Caretaker is responsible for coordinating and executing all preventative maintenance, general maintenance, capital improvement, and construction projects, and ensuring that these projects are completed on time and within budget. The successful candidate will oversee the company’s facility operations, manage facilities staff, site preparation and janitorial duties, all while remaining in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Coordinating and supervising maintenance & construction projects
  • Assessing and minimizing risk
  • Maintaining quality control procedures
  • Finding ways to prevent problems and to solve any that arise
  • Maintaining spreadsheets for properties and scheduling preventative maintenance
  • Formulating and managing schedules and budgets for projects and work orders
  • Helping to negotiate contracts and securing permits and licenses
  • Coordinating deliveries to the site
  • Selecting tools and materials
  • Maintaining adequate parts inventory and order items as necessary
  • Managing and contracting as needed, weed abatement, brush clearance, tree removal, and snow removal services.
  • Develop and execute strong snow removal and safety plans as well as fire safety and fire abatement plans.
  • Overseeing and supervising other onsite maintenance technicians
  • Executing equipment audits and record-taking policies
  • Responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operating results
  • Developing and ensuring compliance with all safety and security protocols (ensuring that there is a minimum of one person onsite at all times)
  • Ensure all buildings and grounds are inspected at least once daily, and proactively addressing any issues that arise as a result of these inspections;
  • Liaising with vendors, construction and maintenance professionals, inspectors, utility providers and, sometimes, members of the public.

  • Ability to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks
  • This position will be exposed to chemical substances that are typical for maintenance and janitorial work.

  • Ability to be on call for emergencies

Qualifications/Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

5 or more year(s) experience in general maintenance, carpentry or construction; including use of power and hand tools.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Knowledge of safe construction practices including use of PPE, safe use of power equipment, and safe handling of hazardous chemicals and environmental hazards.

A strong customer service background with a commitment to providing a high level of service

Salary: $55k per year

Benefits: 2 weeks paid vacation, 7 floating holidays per year, on site meals, medical, dental and wellness
