The Opportunity

We are looking for a dynamic data analytic professional with excellent communication skills and experience interacting with cross-LOB teams, with a background in technology related to business analytics and intelligence having strong logic and problem solving skills.

The principal’s responsibility is centered on establishing Enterprise Analytics framework leveraging emerging technologies in support of providing strategic and scalable analytic capabilities. The solution involves accessing diverse data sources in AWS, on-prem Database platforms, and sharepoints while creating informative and interactive data visualizations and models with PBI toolset.

The ideal candidate should have a strong focus on attention to detail and have a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement. Further, the ideal candidate must be able to thrive in situations of high ambiguity.

The Work Itself

  • Lead analytical solution development and help modernize our data infrastructure to be forward compatible with new analytical approaches.
  • Assist data related activities to support development of new data analytics approaches and methodologies to improve operations and business outcomes.
  • Develop a standard modeling process and help the larger team apply analytic best practices.
  • Partner with shared technical and business resources (LOBs, IT teams, Risk, etc.) to effectively deliver and support solutions.
  • Help translate business partner requirements into data and analytical specifications focusing on end-to-end automation.
  • Assist in creating analytic knowledge synergies across the organization.
  • Support training and learning initiatives that help grow talent within Ally.
  • The Principal will utilize their strong knowledge of data storing and processing large sets of data.
  • Streamline software usage to improve or reduce vendor costs/licenses.

The Skills You Bring

  • Master of Science in Math, Statistics, Computer Science or related discipline highly preferred
  • At least 5 years of modeling/analytics experience
  • At least 5 years of building analytics in a banking environment using Power Bi (Desktop, PB Service, DAX, and Data Modeling)
  • Designs and develops code for Data Warehouse in support of enterprise business intelligence projects and possesses broad understanding of multiple technologies, including Cloud Computing, DBMS, ETL, reporting, OLAP, and Performance tuning for DBMS and reporting objects
  • Experience in batch and Real-time ETL involving multiple database systems (on-premise and cloud bases systems – Oracle/Snowflake)
  • Minimum 1 year of working experience in AWS utilizing services such as S3, Lambda, SNS, and DynamoDB
  • Must possess high expertise in writing SQLs
  • Experience in Data extraction/manipulation using Python/R programming languages.
  • Experience in API development using tools such as Postman
  • Experience in applying best practices and creativity in the data presentation layer
  • Ability to communicate analytical insights clearly and concisely to individuals from across the organization
  • Preferably with experience using a broad range of quantitative analytical techniques, from descriptive statistical analysis to predictive and prescriptive analytic solutions
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), and interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Agile mindset to work on putting a process when no established process exists
