General Duty Statement

Performs landscape work as a specialist in routine landscape maintenance and horticultural care for ornamental gardens, garden spaces, and formal plantings on City of Saint Paul property. Performs landscape maintenance duties to include, but not limited to: weeding, mulching, watering, pruning, mowing, litter pickup, spring and fall garden cleanups, and planting perennials and annuals by design. Works independently, as a part of a team, alongside community volunteers, and will guide and train seasonal staff. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.

Information about the current vacancies:
We anticipate hiring 3 temporary employees in 2023. Temporary positions will not exceed 7 months in duration, working approximately April thru October.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in commercial or residential landscaping, greenhouse production, or commercial horticulture, or 20 credit hours in a certified landscape/horticultural training program.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out of state driver's license.

Preferred Requirement:
  • Currently possesses or willing to obtain a Non-Commercial Pesticide Applicator's License, including categories A and E.

Temporary: This posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements. This position is eligible for Earned Safe and Sick Time (ESST). Other benefits are not provided.
