Land Surveyor 9-P11
This position is located at an agreed upon field office within the East UP and will be determined based on the selected candidate.
Performs surveying assignments utilizing the laws, regulations, rules, policies and procedures of a Departmental survey program. Conducts and documents land surveys for determination of boundary lines, retracement of government survey lines, and reestablishment of land title corners to facilitate Department land management activities. Under the general direction of lead surveyors or managers to facilitate the project completion of boundary, retracement, topographic, construction and other surveys

This position is located at the Shingleton Field Office, Seney Field Office, or Wyman Nursery and will be determined based on the selected candidate.
Performs senior level professional surveying assignments utilizing the laws, regulations, rules, policies and procedures of a Departmental survey program in a large geographic area of the Upper Peninsula. Conducts and documents land surveys for determination of boundary lines, retracement of government survey lines, and reestablishment of land title corners to facilitate Department land management activities. As a senior worker in a survey program, serves as responsible employee in charge over complex assignments requiring licensure under the general direction of a managerial level supervisor to facilitate the project completion of boundary, retracement, topographic, construction and other surveys. This position may also require contract oversight over some of the Good Neighbor Authority (GNA) or State Forest Land Survey Contracts. Providing survey research to the contractors, overseeing maps and corner records and field inspections. This position serves a large geographic area that includes the counties of Alger, Schoolcraft, and Delta.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree with a major in surveying.

Experience

Land Surveyor 9
No specific type or amount is required.

Land Surveyor 10
One year of professional experience conducting land surveys equivalent to a Land Surveyor 9.

Land Surveyor P11
Two years of professional experience conducting land surveys equivalent to a Land Surveyor, including one year equivalent to a Land Surveyor 10.

Land Surveyor Licensed 12
Three years of professional experience conducting land surveys equivalent to a Land Surveyor, including one year equivalent to a Land Surveyor P11.

Additional Requirements and Information

Possession of a land surveyor license issued by the State of Michigan in accordance with the provisions of Public Act 299 of 1980 is required for the Land Surveyor Licensed 12.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
