Medical Laboratory Technician – Laboratory

Shift: Full Time Evenings

HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is a 139-licensed bed, general acute care hospital. HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is affiliated with HCA Houston Healthcare, part of the HCA Healthcare Gulf Coast Division. The division is a comprehensive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, emergency centers and diagnostic imaging facilities in greater Houston, Corpus Christi and South Texas. Facilities include: 17 hospitals, nine ambulatory care centers, 13 off-campus emergency centers, and a regional transfer center.

What you will do in this role:

• The medical lab technologist/technician demonstrates the ability to competently perform routine and complex laboratory testing using manual and automated methods.
• Should be able to problem solve, and report a variety of lab procedures in the areas of Hematology, Immunohematology, Serology, Coagulation, Chemistry, Microbiology and Urinalysis with Little or no supervision.
• Must also demonstrate competency in specimen collection, performance of QC, equipment maintenance, participation in quality assurance and performance improvement activities, and other duties as assigned by the lab director/manager.

  Education required and/or preferred:

  REQUIRED:

  • Associate Degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Medical Laboratory Technology/Clinical Laboratory Technology (MLT/CLT) from an accredited institution.
  • Or be qualified under CLIA guidelines for MLT/CLT.

  Licensure/Certification

  PREFERRED: MLT or equivalent certification, or be currently eligible to sit for MLT or equivalent certification exam preferred.

  Experience required or preferred:

  PREFERRED: One year clinical laboratory experience or equivalent clinical lab training.
