Responsibilities:
BS degree in Medical Technology or related Science. NYS DOH Medical Technologist license. Strong working knowledge of Chemistry and Hematology. Six years of experience as a Lab Technologist is required. Demonstrated proficiency in MS office and medial database systems; knowledge of Meditech preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities:
The Supervisor functions as a working technologist when required and is responsible for the operation of the laboratory, including phlebotomy activities. The Supervisor is responsible for the resolution or proper escalation of all problems on the site.
Qualifications:
Performs technical duties (specimen testing, calibration, linearity, QC, etc), reports all test results in a timely manner and calls all results designated as panic results to physicians and nursing units, seeks resolution to any technical problems. Escalates unresolved issues, runs and reviews outstanding worklists and follows up on all outstanding specimens, Reviews instrument printouts from all shifts to ensure accurate results, Reviews Quality Control records and ensures corrective action is documented when required. Escalates unresolved issues, Monitors laboratory processes and initiates corrective action when procedures deviate from laboratory’s performance specifications. Escalates unresolved issues, Troubleshoot instrument problems when necessary, Performs proficiency testing as part of normal workload with satisfactory results, Sends out specimens to reference laboratory when necessary, Responsible for staff scheduling, Ensures proper inventory of testing materials and supplies, Handles routine complaints and forwards unresolved issues to Lab Manager or Lab Director, Follows up on all problems and ensures the completion of all work on the shift, Oversees phlebotomy activities and reports issues to Phlebotomy Supervisor as appropriate, Troubleshoots and seeks resolution of any technical problems. Escalates unresolved issues.
