• Job Description Summary -Apply the appropriate scientific tests and procedures to any sample submitted for testing and produce accurate, valid results as requested/required, using a range of methods from standard and well-established routines to specially adapted processes.

• Responsibilities:1) Application Testing

Work on specific projects under the guidance of a technical specialist, i.e. chemists and scientists.
Carry out tasks assigned using the required accuracy and precision.
Prepare samples compliant with the relevant method.
Suggest alternative courses of action in response to roadblocks.
Work occasional necessary off-hours shifts during pilot campaigns and time-sensitive projects.
2) Material Analysis
Execute a range of methods from standard and well-established routines to specially adapted processes.
Manage time and work within the constraints of a research program or test schedule.
Liaise with maintenance staff on the repair of faults and modifications.
Record data, observations, and conclusions
3) Instrument Operation
Thoroughly learn and understand the principles of operations of the laboratory equipment used.
Perform calibration checks of instruments.
Perform small maintenance activities for the instrument at hand.4) Commitment to Safety Culture
Learn Sibelco's safety regulations and ensure activities are following those regulations.
Actively take steps to maintain a safe and incident-free work environment.
Follow all Safe Operating Procedures according to training and instruction.

• Educational Background and prior professional experience

Two-year Technical Degree or 3-5 years of relevant work experience
Laboratory or similar technical experience preferred
Mechanical inclination and tinkering skills preferred
