Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Lab Tech Assistant for the Lockwood Lab within the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Natural Resources. The research will focus on the detection of invasive spotted lanternfly through novel environmental DNA (eDNA) collection methodologies and surveys. Activities will be conducted in the lab and field, including eDNA field surveys, sample processing, and laboratory eDNA experiments. The position will require seasonal, weekly travel to New York State to conduct field work, including regular overnight travel (costs reimbursed).

- Laboratory work will involve sampling equipment preparation and some sample processing.
- Works with faculty, staff, and a lab manager to generate reports and other technical documents.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in ecology, natural resource management, wildlife biology, molecular biology, or similar field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High level of attention to detail and field sampling experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- A mix of field and laboratory work, including long field sampling days with regular overnight travel.
- Ability to occasionally lift 50 lbs.

- Flexibility to work early mornings, late evenings, and weekends, as needed.
