Job Title: Lab Manager (Technologist V)

Location: Raleigh, NC 27607

Duration: 12 Months

Pay-Rate: $49.70/Hr. on W2

This position oversees the operation and administration of a large robust client based clinical laboratory. The manager of this laboratory will supervise 22 team members including both clinical techs and support personnel. There are 5 small satellite locations feeding into the main lab. This lab has recently been updated with new analyzers that are standardized to LabCorp platforms allowing for extensive support and resources. This exempt position has a regular schedule of 8a-5p Monday-Friday but an adjusted schedule or additional hours may be required occasionally to oversee operations.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Manage all functions, staff (technical, support, and clerical), workflow, and supply management of the clinical laboratory and satellite locations.
  • Align department goals and priorities with client, corporate, divisional, and laboratory-wide goals and priorities.
  • Act as a primary liaison with the client and the members of the client’s management staff along with the Labcorp team. Communicate with client, sales team and management teams on a routine basis to resolve problems and ensure appropriate and timely resolutions.
  • Ensure proper staffing to meet the clients workload demands and maximize productivity including evaluate workflow to determine priority of work to maintain quality and acceptable turn-around-time.
  • Routinely evaluate staff performance and competence, including reviews and providing timely feedback.
  • Track data and perform analyses to support evidence-based decision making.
  • Actively lead department communication and staff development. Engage, challenge, and develop staff through continuing education opportunities, mentoring, coaching, training, and special projects.
  • Lead problem solving, conflict resolution, performance improvement, and disciplinary action to maintain qualified team members.
  • Maintain high standards for quality of care, patient and team member safety.
  • In conjunction with the both the client and LabCorp team, evaluate all quality activities including training and competency, proficiency testing, standardization, audits and inspections, and performance indicators to meet regulatory an accreditation standards. Implement performance improvement measures, as necessary.
  • Revise, standardize, and implement both Procedure and Policy documents for all areas of the laboratory.
  • Working knowledge of LIS system/s and EMR/s, and the operational processes of these systems.

Skill Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to relate professionally with people, leadership, team work, critical thinking and analytical abilities, compose letters/memorandum, coordinate events, motivate others, organizational skills, research information, time management, supervisory skills.
  • Strong knowledge of personal protection measures, safety regulations, and the avoidance of accidents. Working conditions include possible exposure to infection from disease-bearing specimens; must comply with applicable safety procedures.
  • Vision Requirements: Far acuity-ability to see clearly at 20 feet or more; near acuity-ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less; depth perception-ability to judge distance and space relationships; color vision-ability to distinguish and identify different colors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
  • MT, ASCP certified Physician Office Lab Manager

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $49.70 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
