Position SummaryThe Fessenden School seeks a Kindergarten Teacher for a joyful class of 16 boys.

This position will involve the teaching of math, social studies, literacy and social competency. Skills and experience as a facilitator of childrens social and emotional development are preferred. Along with these arenas, this person will also assist in the teaching and integration of Spanish, science, library curriculum and the arts. An integral part of this role is partnering with and complementing the other co-teacher in order to provide the students with a cohesive approach to all aspects of their kindergarten experience.

Essential ResponsibilitiesThe essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Teach and stay current with curriculum for math, social studies, literacy, and 21st century learningIncorporate project based learning, educational technology, differentiated learning and cultural competency in lessonsPartner with other Kindergarten teachers to coordinate consistency in curriculum and communication within grade levelCommunicate with parents and caregivers on a regular basisExemplify the Schools mission and community principles, including honesty, respect and compassion Participate in and help facilitate all division and grade level activitiesCollaborate with learning resources department to provide a coordinated approach for students with learning differencesPerform duties such as supervising recess, lunch and dismissalMaintain all documentation connected with the curriculum and studentsReview potential student applicants throughout the yearAttend faculty meetings; typically on Mondays from 3:00pm to 4:15pmAttend professional development meetings; typically during school year there are three 8:30am to 4:00pm and three 3:00pm to 5:00pmMaintain regular and reliable attendanceMaintain current CPR/AED & first aid certification and child abuse prevention trainingOther duties as assignedScheduleOrientation: August 21, 2023- August 22, 2023School Year: August 28, 2023-June 11, 2024Academic Day: 7:30 am - 3:00pmMonday Faculty Meetings: 3:00-4:00, 3:15-5:00Minimum QualificationsBachelor degreeExperience in instructing children in academic programsStrong supervisory and leadership skills to manage a classroomAbility to perform critical thinking, organization, prioritization, and problem solving with minimal supervisionAbility to serve in a diverse community of colleagues, students, and parentsEnthusiasm and communication skills to engage boys and build meaningful relationshipsPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative of those that are essential functions of this position.
