Do you want to go to work and be a part of saving lives every day? Do you have two years of supervisory experience? Winnebago County Animal Services is looking for a Kennel Operations Manager to join our team!

This Kennel Manager is responsible for all animal care and housing, management and supervision of kennel staff and for the movement and care of all animals from intake to outcome. Supervises one assistant kennel manager and a team of kennel technicians and veterinary technicians. Coordinates closely with staff veterinarians to provide excellent care to all animals.

This is a fast-paced environment with a focus on providing excellent animal care and efficient movement of animals through our system. The successful candidate will be able to manage the daily work and be a strategic problem solver. Strong familiarity with guidelines for standards of care in animal shelters very important. Familiarity with PetPoint animal data management system also a plus. Requires excellent communication skills, excellent animal handling, restraint and other medical skills as well as the ability to develop the skills and abilities of staff.

Requires two years of supervisory experience and relevant experience in an animal-related field. Must be able to lead, to teach, to plan, to work collaboratively with staff, other managers, vendors and others.

WCAS is a department of Winnebago County government, located in Rockford, IL. The department provides a wide range of services in Winnebago County, IL and boasts high reclaim and adoption rates. Thanks to the efforts of many, including our kennel team, WCAS euthanasia is low and reserved only for cases of public safety or where injury or illness make euthanasia the humane decision.
