Under direction, is responsible for the direct observation, supervision, guidance and general custodial care of juveniles in residence in a secure detention facility; and performs related work as required.

This is an Open Competitive/Department Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill current vacancies at Juvenile Services. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.

Must be at least 21 years of age at time of application.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral sciences, criminal justice, human services, social work or closely related field; OR 1,000 hours of on-call services as a Juvenile Detention Specialist (On Call); OR an equivalent combination of related education and qualifying experience in a detention facility, related justice program, residential treatment program or in a law enforcement field.

License Or Certificate:

• A valid driver’s license is required at time of appointment
• A CPR/First Aid certificate is required at time of appointment
• Completion and maintenance of training and certification in a department approved Defensive Tactics course which includes use of a restraint chair and other training required by the Department.
