SITUATION IN ORGANIZATION

Reports to Sr. Account Manager for the Oil and Gas applications. No direct report responsibilities.


JOB DIMENSIONS

  • Under the direction of the Sr. Account Manager, the Junior Technical Service Chemical Engineer will provide technical support in North, Central and South America for ARKEMA’s Molecular Sieves (desiccants, adsorbents) into the Oil & Gas, LNG, Petrochemical, Refineries, Ethanol and dehydration systems requiring an adsorbent regeneration process.
  • The Junior Technical Service Chemical Engineer will assist the Sr. Account Manager with providing technical offers, dehydration unit designs, sizing of adsorbent material, technical consultations, startup assistance, on site loading assistance, sampling assistance, sample reports and presentations, performance monitoring and performance troubleshooting.
  • The Junior Technical Service Chemical Engineer will provide intelligence on customer’s requirements regarding technical services and will contribute to Arkema’s service offering development and implementation to the Sr. Account Manager. Overtime, may need to interact with the Business Director and the global project team on collaborative projects.


KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Technical support to customers and distributors 90%

  • Provide support to the Sr. Account Manager, as well as to our customers and distributors by collecting (by email, by phone or in person) relevant technical data related to the customers’ dehydration units, dehydration units designs, dessicant loading data, performance data of dehydration unit, and any other relevant technical data.
  • Assist with interactions with the customers’ technical staff to collect relevant data around gas and/or liquid processing and treatment.
  • Enter data in an ad-hoc calculation spreadsheet to provide adsorbent material sizing options vs other criteria such as performance, cost, availability of material, and other factors under the direction of the Sr. Account Manager.
  • Assist with the technical proposals submitted to our clients, proposals must be customized to each customer / application in order to emphasize ARKEMA’s value proposition.
  • Rework technical designs several times until a final optimization meets the customers requirements at the direction of the Sr. Account Manager.
  • Assist the Sr. Account Manager with presenting technical designs to explain the different configurations and benefits of each design. Audience is made of a mix of plant operators and technicians, plant engineers, category procurement staff. These meetings can be done remotely or in person.
  • For existing and new Oil & Gas accounts, provide technical support, in partnership with our distributors – loading and startup recommendations, operation follow up, troubleshooting, technical recommendations to optimize the operation of the adsorption unit.

Industry & Customer Knowledge - 10%

  • Understand market dynamics, customer’s economic environment, strategic business objectives, technical requirements.
  • Reporting of technical support activities, services and market information.
  • Interactions with R&D and Project team in France to share knowledge and work on specific technical projects as needed\
  • Attend and may present at conferences and trade-shows in relevant markets.


CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

  • Must be at ease and well prepared in front of customers and/or management, including good presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with international counterparts
  • Maintaining a reliable, consistent, positive, technically responsible corporate image is critical to the long-term success of the business
  • On average, business travel is expected to be at the 25-30% range, on a sporadic basis. There will be 1-2 yearly trips to Europe as well. Some initial training will be done at our HQ in Paris France, as well as at our plants in Honfleur, France and at our R&D center in Pau, France (2 weeks)
  • Complies with all regulatory and Arkema internal requirements, including Health, Environment and Safety practices, as well as our customers HES requirements when visiting their sites. Employee must be comfortable visiting Oil & Gas treatment facilities, Petrochemical, LNG and Ethanol plants, and may on occasion have to work at height or in confined spaces in Fire retardant PPE and any safety PPE required by the site.
  • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.), or by our customers when required.
  • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents


REQUIRED EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS /WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors’ degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Position involves application of chemical engineering concepts around gas/liquid flows, pressure, temperature, material density, material resistance, dehydration processes and more.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a technical support role in an industrial (preferably catalysts/adsorbents processes, operations, technology environment, preferably in the natural gas/LNG/oil/petrochemical/refinery Industries)
  • Knowledge of the Oil & Gas industry and processes; prior experience in operations at a gas midstream or petrochemical company is a strong plus.
  • Based in the Houston, TX area preferably. The position allows to work from home.

  • Optimal time management and organization skills
  • Strong Excel knowledge. MS Office; Salesforce.com a plus.
  • Must be self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a matrix structure, under supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, presentation skills and negotiating skills
  • Ability to understand customer needs within the context of Arkema’s financial targets; ability to interact with all levels of an organization.
  • English fluency required, Spanish and/or Portuguese and/or French are a strong plus
  • Problem solver – identifies root causes and provides solutions
  • Willingly shares knowledge and best practices across team and other departments
  • Conduct work in accordance with all applicable rules and policies
