Do you enjoy visiting the Broomfield Recreation facilities? All employees receive a FREE pass!!! Open to applicants ages 14-17.

This position is regularly scheduled 15 hours/week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and/or 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. The program dates are May 30th - June 30th and/or July 3rd
- August 4th.

Selection is by LOTTERY and all Junior Park Rangers will be paid $13.65/hour.


The Junior Park Ranger Program is designed to provide job opportunities for youth. Working under a Senior Park Ranger, Junior Park Rangers assist Park Maintenance crews by performing necessary non-technical tasks to provide Broomfield residents with a well-maintained park system and to allow Park Maintenance crews to focus on more technical duties.

Directions To Pick-Up/Drop-Off Sites:

Crew #1 – Girl Scout Shelter in Midway Park – From Midway and Main, go west on Midway to Midway Park. The shelter is located on the west end of the park on the north side of Midway.

Crew #2 – Trails Park Shelter – From Midway and Lowell, go north on Lowell to Trails Drive (just north of the Paul Derda Recreation Center). Then go east on Trails Drive about two blocks to the park shelter.

Crew #3 – Northmoor Park Shelter – From Midway and Sheridan, go north on Sheridan to 13th Avenue. Then go west on 13th Avenue four blocks to the park shelter. (It is next to Bal Swan Children's Center.)

Crew #4 – Lac Amora Park Shelter – From State Highway 287 and 10th Avenue, go west on 10th about 1/2 mile. 10th Avenue curves around to the north. The park shelter is on the eastside of 10th Avenue.

Crew #5 – Zang Spur Park – From State Highway 287 and 10th Avenue, go west on 10th Avenue about three blocks. The park is on the northside of 10th Avenue. Meet by the Depot Museum.

Crew #6 – Broomfield Community Center – From Midway and Main Street, go east on Midway to Spader Way. Go South on Spader Way about three blocks. The Community Center is on the east side of Spader Way. Meet near the front entrance.

Crew #7 – Westlake Middle School – From Midway and Lowell, go north on Lowell to Westlake Drive. Then go east on Westlake Drive. Follow it to 135th Avenue. Go east on 135th Avenue two blocks to the school. Meet in front of the school.

Crew #8 – Outlook Park Shelter – From Midway and Main, go north on Main to 136th Avenue. Go west on 136th Avenue one short block. The park shelter is on the north side of 136th Avenue.


Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties

  • Picks up litter in park areas
  • Pulls weeds
  • Empties trash cans
  • Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents
  • Uses all required safety equipment
  • Performs related duties as required

Experience - None

Necessary Special Requirements - Must be 14, 15, 16 or 17 years of age on the date of hire.

Working Conditions

Work includes walking, stooping, and performing light manual labor including lifting in various weather conditions. Employees may encounter safety hazards such as working in or near moving traffic, or working near parks maintenance equipment which generates a great deal of dust.
