DMPS High School Summer School Programming

DMPS is now hiring for our Jump-Start High School Summer School program!
The goal of this transition program is to support incoming 9th grade student through building knowledge, skills, and relationships necessary to navigate high school successfully as well as receive some math enrichment.
with the following objectives:

• Build self-efficacy and confidence as high school learners in executive functioning skills
• Build a positive math identity
• Build relationships with peers, upperclassmen and staff members
• Explore opportunities to connect with peers, activities, and clubs in high school

Program Overview
Focus: Transition activities are included throughout the JumpStart program including creating a group social contract, relationship building activities, off-campus opportunities, self-advocacy, and understanding high school expectations. The first week is focusing solely on building positive math identity and a skill and willingness to communicate about mathematics. The second week begins to look at some foundational math concepts addressed in Algebra 1 to build their skill and efficacy to successfully engage in HS Algebra

Job Requirements:

• School based Classified staff
• Preference will be given to staff who currently work in the same school as the program
• Attend 8 hours of training June 5th
• Plan, supervise, and facilitate the incoming 9th grade JumpStart program
• Implement and actively engage in pre-planned activities and lessons Communicate in a timely manner with CSC and on-site building administration.
