Underfill: This job posting may be filled as a developmental underfill at the Judicial Services Specialist 2 (JSS2) classification level. See the “Minimum Qualifications” section for details. The hourly pay range for a JSS2 is $17.28-$28.13.

Benefits to you
  • We pay 95% to 99% of medical insurance premiums for full-time employees, including mental health coverage.
  • The hourly equivalent for this position is $19.04 - $31.02.

Position Highlights
The
Umatilla County Circuit Court
is hiring Court Clerks (Judicial Services Specialist 3s) in Hermiston.
A court clerk position is a great way to transition into working for Oregon’s courts. Much of your day is spent supporting court operations. You will coordinate court cases, receive documents from parties to cases and attorneys, examine paperwork for accuracy, and enter case data in OJD's electronic case management system.
You may also work inside the courtroom. Here, you will use recording equipment to log all events in real-time, swear-in witnesses, mark and maintain exhibits or exhibit logs, and enter data into each case register while the court is in session. Attending to juries as bailiff both in and out of the courtroom will be part of your work.
You will interact with attorneys, judges, interpreters, law enforcement, and the public, assisting at the public service counter and over the phone. You will help by answering questions, supplying forms, and receiving payments via cash, credit/debit cards, and checks/money orders for balances owed to the court then crediting those accounts.
Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

This position will be filled one of two ways: by appointment of an applicant who meets the minimum qualifications (as identified below) for a Judicial Services Specialist 3
OR
by developmental underfill of an applicant who meets the minimum qualifications (as identified below) for a Judicial Services Specialist 2.
Judicial Services Specialist 3 Minimum Qualifications
(These must be evident in your work history or resume.)
The qualified candidates must have at least two (2) years of responsible, clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
AND
Possess a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent life or work experience.
Judicial Services Specialist 2 Minimum Qualifications
(These must be evident in your work history or resume.)
The qualified candidates must have at least one (1) years of responsible, clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
AND
Possess a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent life or work experience.

  • Experience providing customer service or explaining processes, procedures, or policies to customers.
  • Experience using computers enter and retrieve information and to complete a variety of tasks.
  • Experience identifying and safeguarding confidential information and materials.
  • Experience handling cash, other monetary transactions, generating receipts, and crediting accounts.
  • Experience creating, editing, or proofreading documents and correspondence on behalf of an employer.

Working Conditions
  • This is a full-time position, and the work schedule currently is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked exceeding 40 hours per work week.
  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Work is mainly in Hermiston with occasional travel to the Sixth Judicial District’s other court location in Pendleton or Heppner.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances or highly stressful situations.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, personal computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds of office material or equipment may be required
