Position Summary:

The part time Janitor/Custodian ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment.

Essential Functions:

• Clean and sanitize assigned areas
• Wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, window washing, and vacuuming
• Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies
• Clean walls, furniture, equipment, windows and mirrors
• Complete daily and weekly custodial checklists as assigned and scheduled
• Perform special cleaning projects as assigned
• Perform assigned tasks during the day

Responsibilities

• Use all janitorial supplies in accordance to product labels
• Adhere to authorized dress code
• Attend all required training sessions and meetings
• Report all Facility Maintenance issues to the Buildings & Grounds supervisor
• Report any member complaints to Buildings & Grounds supervisor
• Knowledge of Department policies and procedures
• Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
• Adhere to all safety rules
• Follow all safety regulations in accordance with OSHA and all other industry guidelines and procedures

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

2. Six months or more of related experience preferred.

3. Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manual, and other documents

4. Knowledge of cleaning practices and procedures.

5. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions

6. Effectively communicate (verbal and writing skills) in English and/or Spanish.

7. Work independently in the absence of supervision

8. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of duties.

9. Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: Up to $17.00 per hour
