Job Title: Tier 2 Systems Administrator

FLSA Status: Exempt (Salary)

Hours: Full Time (30+ hours per week)

SUMMARY

The Vesta Corporate Tier 2 Systems Administrator is responsible for all aspects of Vesta Corporate IT and Client Related Technology Services. This position requires strong leadership, vision, communication and project management while coordinating multiple personnel and vendors across a statewide network.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES include the following:

Candidate shall provide software and Windows Server System Administration support for all Vesta systems to include software/hardware configuration, security administration, application interfaces, troubleshooting, consultation and new workload planning to all Vesta groups.

IT support will consist of the following tasks:

  • Candidate shall provide support for the implantation and configuration of Vesta software applications. The Candidate will serve as the subject matter expert and participate in regular IT communication involving Vesta Property Services.
  • Candidate shall provide technical guidance on new workstation deployment utilizing automated methods.
  • The Candidate shall provide Tier II support for users. Problems that cannot be resolved at this level shall be prioritized and elevated.
  • Maintain system efficiency.
  • Ensure design of system allows all components to work properly together.
  • Analyze and isolate issues and troubleshoot problems reported by users
  • Monitor network to ensure security and availability to specific users.
  • Evaluate and modify systems performance.
  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security. Ensure network connectivity throughout a companys LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.
  • Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers via Active Directory management and group policy.
  • Maintain network servers such as file servers (Nimble SAN), VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems.
  • Maintain backups of file share and servers via VEEAM and Azure Cloud.
  • Administer servers (VMware Cluster), desktop computers, printers, routers, switches (Cisco), firewalls (Meraki), phones, personal digital assistants, smartphones, software deployment (PDQ Deploy), security updates and patches.
  • Must have flexibility/willingness to work on-call hours (both weekdays and weekends).
  • Support Microsoft Windows server technologies (Server 2008 R2/2012/2016) operating systems, Exchange, DNS and Active Directory, and virtualization platforms.
  • Monitor performance of Windows server and server applications, identify root-cause and resolve issues.
  • Monitor network performance and resolve issues such as internet bandwidth problems, ISP issues and firewall / router changes.
  • Provide Tier 2 desktop and application support, including new user setups, line of business application support, and hosted application support.
  • Produce, maintains and update technical documentation.
  • CompTIA Security+, Server+, MCP or any current Microsoft certification desirable, ITIL Foundations certification a plus
  • Attention to smallest details of user environments to ensure a consistent end user experience
  • Serves as a backup and an escalation point to Tier 1
  • Reliable transportation is a must as you will be traveling to our regional office

EXPERIENCE

  • Associate Degree or 3 years equivalent work experience preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years experience providing desktop support and server systems administration in Windows environment required
  • A working conceptual knowledge of all components of a modern systems infrastructure (networking concepts, network protocols, security, etc.)
  • Firewall and visualization experience a plus

The position is an advanced corporate professional role. Applicant should demonstrate a balance between technical knowledge and people skills. Has extensive understanding of all IT and procurement policies and practices. Leads projects/sourcing initiatives of medium to high complexity that require demonstrated knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments. Ensures compliance to contractual changes and/or updates based on company and regulatory guidelines. Coaches and mentors staff. Works with limited supervision on complex projects. Ability to set and achieve goals.

  • Strong organizational skills, navigate organizations and build trusting relationships

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of Technology functions and procedures
  • Working knowledge of project management methods and techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization (e.g. executive, management, individual contributors)

  • Lift/carry up to 75lbs
