PURPOSE

Responsible for the, testing, deployment, installation, configuration and maintenance of information security tools, applications, systems and appliances. Coordinates with network engineers, DBAs, telecommunication specialists, system administrators and IT management staff to verify adherence to company security, QA and disaster recovery policies and procedures. Follows the lead of IT Security Engineer II staff regarding Information Security initiatives. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Identifies hardware/software information security configuration and management requirements.
  • Participates in business continuity planning.
  • Assists with planning and with performing internal and external audit related functions.
  • Maintains awareness of industry standards, best practices and government regulations pertaining to information security and privacy.
  • Recommends new information security applications, tools and infrastructure, new approaches and optimization of current information security assets.
  • Participates, as needed, in other department and company committees related to security, privacy, QA and safety initiatives.
  • Responds to, follows up on, enters tracking information for and creates recovery and/or corrective action plans for information security incidents as needed.
  • Assists with creation and distribution of information security, and related awareness topics, training materials.
  • Assists with technology related aspects of physical security needs, processes and systems such as CCTV,physical plant access and other security and environmental monitoring and alerting systems.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Works with network and technical support groups as needed.
  • Performs research of new hardware and software for projects that includes a multi-vendor environment.
  • Recommends use of alternative tools and techniques to constantly improve system design and efficiency.
  • Works independently on routine tasks. Seeks assistance in complex assignments.
  • Attends frequent design review with other team members on complex assignments.
  • Strives to understand business implications of assigned projects, and their interaction with other projects.
  • Assumes project leadership role as assigned.
  • Takes initiative to handle crisis situations in an efficient manner. Reacts quickly to notify supervisor and other affected persons of potential problems/repercussions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree with a major in Information Systems, Computer Science, Security Management, Information Security or related field helpful. At least 3 years of professional systems or network maintenance and administration experience required. At least 1 years of experience focus on information security processes, systems and tasks required.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree with a major in Information Systems, Computer Science, Security Management, Information Security or related field helpful.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of operating systems, networking and database technologies preferred.
  • Knowledge of procedure and policy development methods preferred.
  • In-depth hardware configuration knowledge preferred.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong trouble shooting skills.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with efficiency.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues with technical and non-technical people.
