. About Your Role:

Under the direction of the Information Technology (IT) Director, this individual maintains and administers Community College of Aurora's (CCA) networks and serves as a Network subject matter expert. Provide hands-on configuration and support for switches, wireless, and associated network infrastructure components; works to develop, document, maintain and enforce technical services procedures, and standards oversee and maintain all assets related to CCA'S network infrastructure.This position assists and recommends any design change to network infrastructure.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Working knowledge or TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, certificate based 802.1X authentication, TACACS
  • Working knowledge of Contact Centers and scripting related to the management of call flows.
  • Requires well-developed communication skills to convey highly technical concepts with a wide range of internal contacts and administrators, as well as to deal effectively with external contractors.
  • Requires excellent personnel management and communication skills, conducts training and facilitating small group processes, and coordinates and communicates with other departments within CCA to achieve a common goal.
  • Must be able to design, plan, deploy and maintain a network infrastructure with complex technical requirements.
  • Must be able to analyze and evaluate the needs of users and develop the most effective program or solution to meet those needs.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and apply complex technical information, and relay that information to college leadership and stakeholders, including both technical and non-technical.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Configures and monitors Network/system resources. Identifies diagnoses and resolves problems with network troubleshooting tools.
  • Develops and maintains Network/System procedures to insure the integrity and usability of the Network/System resources.
  • Responds to requests from co-workers for assistance in the setup, configuration of a supported Network/System, LAN device Configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain the current Meraki wireless network infrastructure, plan for future growth and make recommendations regarding emerging technologies.
  • Research new technologies and make recommendations for network and process/procedure improvements.
  • Research and analyze technologies to support the College in support of college business needs by studying trade journals, attending seminars or training, meeting with vendors and other business representatives, evaluating hardware and software during trial periods, and determining whether or not the product meets the College's requirements.
  • Provide Network and Telephony functionality in support of the College.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for any IT issues after hours.
  • This position may require a flexible work schedule to provide services before and after regular business hours and on weekends from home or a CCA office location.



Minimum qualifications & Requirements


  • Associate's Degree and at least two years of experience in computer systems technology and network management (experience may be substituted for formal education on a one-for-one-year basis).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in CIS or comparable program degree
  • Three to five years of experience with current industry networking technologies.
  • Advanced degree and/or certifications in the IT industry.
  • Experience with the design, installation, setup, and configuration of Cisco and Meraki Networking devices:
  • Network Design and Engineering, Network Design and Mgmt Theory, Project Management (large and small), Balancing multiple projects, Systems Change Management Processes, Problem Analysis / Troubleshooting hardware/software LAN, wireless systems, video conferencing, structured cabling.
  • Experience in a higher education computing environment.

Supplemental information

Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range: $65,100.00. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
