Purpose of the Position:


The Corporate Field Services Technician will provide technical assistance and support for incoming service requests/incidents related to computer systems, software, hardware, and infrastructure both in-person and (at times) remotely at a manufacturing facility in Durham NC.


The Corporate Field Services Technician may require the candidate to be available for on call 24/7 coverage.


The Corporate Field Services Technician will possess an aptitude for working with Microsoft-based applications, with emphasis on Windows 7/10/11 and Microsoft Office suite versions (2010/2013/2016/O365).


The Corporate Field Services Technician will rely on internal training, previous knowledge, and informed judgment to identify, diagnose, and resolve or route tickets accurately and in accordance with documented processes.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Perform Active Directory Administration duties
  • Provide limited support for corporate mobile devices
  • Work with cloud applications (Microsoft and 3rdparty)
  • Troubleshooting Cisco VPN connectivity
  • Provide remediating and minimizing anti-virus threats
  • Provide remote connection & utilization
  • Perform asset lifecycle management skills
  • Support various browsers to include (IE, Chrome, Safari, etc.)
  • Provide Installation & configuration of various software packages
  • Provide Installation & configuration of Security Software
  • Troubleshoot and install printer installations
  • Work with IPT based Telephony Device Management and ServiceNow (ticket management) utilization
  • Deploy, configure, and support standard IP telephony
  • Perform hardware ordering and inventory management
  • Provide limited support for Mac OS and hardware
  • Documentation (records) management , on-boarding (Training) of new hires, and provide conference room support
  • Provide Vendor engagement (as needed)
  • Provide project interaction/participation and some customer scheduling & follow-ups
  • Provide End user equipment moves (disconnect/reconnect)
  • Conduct cross-team interaction and collaboration Standard device imaging via USB/PXE server(s), Smart-Hands tasks & functions outside of standard operational work.
  • Work across the media team, corporate events, and IT for meeting support and problem resolution.
  • Performs testing, monitoring, analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of performance, technology, and process related problems.
  • Troubleshoots issues and engaging/assigning to the correct Team/Assignment Group
  • Provide knowledge of conference room audio and display devices Smart Hands:(note: Some sites have dedicated network team to perform some of the duties below)
  • Provide Infrastructure cross connect installation –patching cables
  • Conduct remote server reboot.
  • Moving & install IT equipment within your space and cabinets–rack, stack, cable and work with Vendor or Network Team to go live
  • Conduct IT hardware installations
  • Conduct Corning IT supported equipment component removal and installation • Physical server and network gear reboot and • Power cycling IT Equipment
  • Provide both onsite & offsite technical assistance and troubleshooting
  • Provide remote console access
  • Escort IT Vendors for other IT Teams (where permitted)
  • Conduct Procurement of IT goods and services along with receiving& shipping of IT goods
  • Ensure discreet handling of all business and maintains the highest level of confidentiality
  • Prioritizes duties and works on several tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to change priorities at a moment’s notice

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent related experience
  • Prior hardware Experience (beyond imaging and deployment)

Required Skills:

  • Excellent customer service experience
  • Proficient in time management and task prioritization
  • Effective organization and planning skills, with ability to handle changing priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience with Hardware & software installation, troubleshooting and support
  • Basic smart hands (network configuration) knowledge
  • Prior experience with Active Directory administration

Travel Requirement: Up to 10% - 20% to help cover local facilities as needed.
