IT Business Process Analyst is accountable for the effective delivery of IT capabilities and services broadly supporting the Non-Clinical Research and Development (NCRD), Mechanisms of Cancer Resistance Thematic Research Center (MoCR TRC), and Small Molecule Drug Discovery (SMDD) organizations. This role will partner with IT colleagues and NCRD/MoCR/SMDD scientific researchers to identify, define, and drive digital capabilities to meet their specific strategic and operational needs. The ITBPA is accountable to contribute as a member of a team of Business Analysts who flexibly analyze key IT initiative in conjunction with IT Business Partners and Digital Capability Managers aligned directly to business functions. The ITBPA will also contribute in a business analyst & proxy product owner capacity for key initiatives that cross functional boundaries enabling NCRD, MoCR, and SMDD.

Success in this role will leverage analysis and problem-solving skills that create positive, value-producing solutions.

  • Partners with IT peers within NCRD IT, MoCR IT, SMDD IT, and the broader R&ED IT organization to provide insightful and actionable analysis in support of the portfolio of digital capability investments.
  • Shapes business demands: Elicits business needs with creative empathy, maps complex processes, discovers root causes, curates requirements and user stories, and maintains a spotlight on business value opportunities in support of investment justification, planning, and execution.
  • Manages stakeholder experiences: Generates rich and insightful stakeholder and sponsor assessments to manage expectations and advise on anticipated challenge and impedance in the delivery of IT services and capabilities.
  • Constructively advocates for value: Represents the "voice of the customer" and ensures project delivery teams are well informed to make the right trade-offs between speed, quality, and cost. Connects the business stakeholders with the broader IT services. Supports identification of value opportunities across the entire lifecycle of the digital investments.
  • Contributes compelling business cases: Rallies with IT Business Partners and Digital Capabilities Leads on the development of strong and clear business cases for digital capability investments in support of the roadmap and aligned with the platform strategy. Defines, measures, & achieves business outcomes for highest value digital capabilities.
  • Informs the IT strategy: Contributes to realistic and achievable multi-year strategic digital capability roadmaps, informed by both business and IT in an enterprise context. Champions the business partners' needs in prioritization of the digital capability investments.
  • Brings an external view: Actively maintains awareness of external drivers in the business domain and relevant technology trends and brings new ideas.
  • Leverages cross-organizational relationships ensuring that all IT functions are successful in their delivery of services to NCRD, MoCR, and SMDD.
  • Influences service providers and delivery teams: Understands IT business partner accountabilities throughout the portfolio lifecycle and builds empowered and trusting partnerships with IT delivery team members at all levels.
  • Knows what value looks like: Translates business needs into specific business requirements, sees realistic opportunities for IT to add more value, and balances this with a pragmatic understanding of “fitness for purpose”.
  • Communicates effectively: Organizes and presents complex ideas in a simple, convincing, and compelling manner; able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams. Devises and deploys change management strategies in support of capability establishment.
  • Shows good judgement in communication: Communicates successes and issues accurately, urgently, and to the right audience, and takes accountability for ensuring effective management of expectations with IT Business Partners and business stakeholders.
  • Boldly acts with urgency: Shows courage, tenacity, and respect to provoke uncomfortable conversations in order to remove roadblocks to value delivery.
  • Expresses a Growth Mindset demonstrating a passion for skillset development within Business Relationship Management, Business Analysis, and the Early Drug Discovery scientific domain.
  • Advances our Business Analysis Practice by bringing mature, impactful, and sustainable business analysis behaviors that drive change and deliver value.

Desired Experience:

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or technical domain
  • Relevant expertise in the application of IT capabilities to drive business value in a relevant domain.
  • Track record of leading the analysis of complex and ambiguous business needs and integrating those needs into compelling and actionable strategic plans and investment business cases with broad reach and impact.
  • Track record of delivering high-value digital capability projects within timelines and budget.
  • Demonstrated commitment to creative thinking and application of innovative technologies within a relevant scientific domain.
  • Proven ability to drive efficiencies and strategic synergies across IT functions and platforms.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of agile methodologies applied to SDLC and IT services.
  • IIBA Certification or similar Business Analysis Certification, a strong plus

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $106,614.00 – $158,667.00, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation is decided based on demonstrated experience.
