Job Summary:

As a member of the Vail Resorts Finance organization, Vail Resorts’ Retail team is committed to Building Leaders and Driving Value. The Inventory Accounting - Analyst is responsible for ensuring the proper recording and reporting of inventory transactions and adjustments for the Retail Segment while providing additional support to the Inventory Accounting Manager and Vail Resorts’ Retail Senior Manager. Additionally, this role will be an integral part of the month end, quarter-end and year-end close processes. Responsibilities include: journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, variance analysis, field communication, inventory adjustments, cost correction entries, system research, and additional ad hoc duties as requested. These responsibilities involve constant communication between our key stakeholders including IT, Finance, Operations, and other groups within the organization to ensure accurate inventory reporting. The ideal candidate is a motivated individual, self-starter, and enthusiastic team player who can identify opportunities and propose solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage inventory related to Retail Operations
• Perform monthly close duties including: creating timely and accurate journal entries related to retail inventory and reconciling inventory balance sheet accounts
• Communicate with the field on counts and making sure they are received before monthly adjusting JEs are made
• Support Internal and External teams including: Retail Stores, Distribution Centers, AP, Audit, etc.
• Conduct administrative work related to annual physical inventory counts
• Provide field reporting as requested to Senior Leadership
• Ensure compliance with key SOX requirements for accounting/finance organization and accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Focus on ongoing process improvement, making recommendations and participating in initiatives to improve efficiency
• Active participation in driving results to meet individual, team, and department objectives
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting/Finance
• 2 + years accounting experience
• Strong accounting/finance knowledge, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities
• High volume inventory experience a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications: intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Self-starter with a drive for excellence, ability to build strong working relationships, and a proven ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials system, Merchandise Management System (MMS), Coupa, and OnBase experience (Preferred).

The expected range is $47,100 - $68,175. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
