QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSN or BA in health care related field strongly preferred. Masters degree preferred.
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • Current California RN license required.
  • ACLS and BLS certificate required.
  • Extensive nursing experience in both patient care and management/leadership roles required (usually 5 years).
  • Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other local, state, federal regulations.
  • Previous supervisory experience required (usually 4 years).
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Clear understanding of the similarities and differences between Palliative Care and Hospice (they are not the same).
  • Prior experience managing in a labor environment.
  • Hospital experience as an RN or manager (must have solid understanding of working with HBS physicians, ICU RNs, Floor RNs, ED MDs, etc.

POSITION SUMMARY

Manages 24-hour departments providing patient care services. Ensures staff provide high quality, accessible, cost effective care, and patient focused services to members across the continuum, which comply with local, state, and federal requirements. Develops and maintains clinical standards of care and practice; responsible for all resource budgeting, selection and development.

Manager will oversee multiple Palliative Care teams and different locations including: Inpatient Palliative Care, Home Based/SNF Palliative Care, Outpatient Palliative Care, and a Life Care Planning team.

DUTIES

  • Attending morning huddles with each team twice a week.
  • Keeping staff updated on Regional Initiatives, Safety Messages, Compliance issues, staff motivation, gathering staff concerns and escalating to Director.
  • Direct Report Rounding with all 30 staff once/month.
  • Gathering data from Regional Reports and discussing with teams to determine if they are tracking toward goals.
  • Spending 2-3 days onsite at each of two different facilities providing support, understanding and monitoring of attendance, punctuality and productivity.
  • Attending Regional Meetings to remain up to date on all new initiatives and share information with staff.
  • Reviewing staff performance against benchmarks to ensure all staff are meeting minimum performance levels, discussing and supporting staff who need help.
  • Coordinating with Outpatient Palliative Care Manager on implementation of new initiatives Working with Admin staff to ensure all Conditions of Employment, Licenses, and Onboarding PD classes are completed by all staff.

Note: pay rate is dependent upon experience.
