Position Summary

We are currently seeking to hire a Temporary IP Litigation Paralegal for a fully remote position (one year term) with the possibility of being brought on full-time after one year. The candidate will provide a full range of litigation support for an anticipated upcoming trial in the United States International Trade Commission (USITC), including, but not limited to, preparation/revision of correspondence, preparation of pleadings, exhibits, and legal documents, e-filing, and conducting legal research. The successful candidate has IP Litigation experience and experience with the USITC is highly preferred.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Handle complex case management for ITC and/or US Federal Court litigation including coordinate discovery with a vendor, research, trial preparation and trial attendance;
• Manage all trial preparation and support activity, including post-trial;
• Research, gather, analyze, and compile information and documents to assist in advising in litigation matters;
• Work with attorneys in the identification, interviewing, and preparation of witnesses and collection of documents;
• Conduct electronic searches and researches technical references, patents, copyrights, trademarks, and legal matters;
• Coordinate and manage large electronic discovery collections and productions using document review tools, like Relativity, in conjunction with an e-discovery vendor;
• Provide general assistance to attorneys, and prepares summaries of factual findings, legal research, and/or sequential and chronological events for attorneys;
• Interpret and understand rules for the United States International Trade Commission and Federal District Courts;
• Communicate with court personnel, personnel at state and federal agencies, and other agencies regarding proceedings;
• Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality;
• Committed to work outside of normal business hours as needed;
• Meet the firm’s paralegal billable-hours requirement; and,
• Assist with all other needs for project as requested.

Qualifications

• Experience in all phases of IP litigation, including case assessment, discovery and motions practice, depositions, working with experts, and appeals;
• Experience with ITC trial preparation preferred, federal court trial preparation and logistics, a strong preference;
• Experience and technical expertise within Relativity (or other eDiscovery tools);
• Must be proficient with State & Federal electronic research tools and filing systems including Pacer, Westlaw, etc.;
• Willingness to handle filings after hours, as needed;
• Excellent data entry and organizational skills;
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and coordinate projects;
• Ability to use good judgment, initiative, and command of resources to accomplish results;
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys, and staff to provide information with courtesy and tact;
• Ability to multitask and work independently;
• Ability to work well under pressure and be self-motivated;
• Familiarity with The Bluebook, is a plus and citation programs such as Best Authority and Drafting Assistant

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree, Associates Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred
• Experience handling United States International Trade Commission cases and/or Federal IP Litigation cases strongly preferred
