Job description
Review patient insurance information received from physician offices. Verify insurance contract fees based on the scheduled procedure/procedures. Contact insurance companies and verify insurance benefits for each scheduled patient. Complete insurance verification form and calculate the patient's estimated expected payment. Communicate the expected payment to the patient prior to the day of surgery. Enter insurance information and expected patient co-pay into the patient accounting system.

Required Skills:
Good command of the English language, both verbal and written

Ability to read, write, type and perform calculations at a level generally acquired through completion of a high school or equivalent education

Knowledge of medical terminology

Ability to work with stand-alone or integrated healthcare computerized systems preferred.

Familiarity with fundamental software packages (Word, Excel)

Ability to maintain effective communication with insurance companies and other members of the healthcare team

Required Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent

1 to 2 years experience preferred
