Hybrid 50/50


Provides insurance verification functions for district clinics and Emergency Department, through websites and contact with insurance companies.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Determines each patient’s insurance eligibility and benefits, verifying via websites or contacting insurance companies
  • Manages patient’s EMR with updated eligibility, co-pays and other health plan information
  • Contacts patient’s with no active insurance plan(s) to update EMR for verification
  • Accept telephone calls from parents, patients, physicians, etc. to provide customer friendly interaction for issues regarding insurance and pre-certification
  • Backup for front desk staff
  • Attends department staff meetings and in-services to maintain current knowledge
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION: A High School diploma or equivalent is required. A completed course in medical terminology is required


PREFERRED EDUCATION: Two years of College with an emphasis in business preferred


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year experience in insurance verification, pre-certification, billing or related insurance experience is required.


ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: CPR certification required within 6 months of hire

SKILLS:


  • Computer literacy, which includes the ability to perform basic entries, with extreme accuracy
  • Phone etiquette
  • Good communication skills (oral and written)
  • Detail-oriented, multitasking and organization skills required
  • Detailed knowledge of insurance policy types and coverage

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to work effectively with visitors and staff. Sits for long periods at a time, bends, walks, or stoops intermittently. Reaches for files, lifts up to 10 lbs, carries up to 10 lbs. Must be able to work on several projects simultaneously and handle frequent interruptions.

Eligibility Requirements - Employees regularly scheduled at least 20 hours per week.

Employee Dependents - Your legal spouse or domestic partner, Dependent children until age 26.

Waiting Period - 1st of the month following 30 days from your date of hire.
