Smith Insulation services include: installed open and closed cell spray foam, fiberglass batt, vapor barriers, and blown-in insulation.

This position is primarily responsible for the safe and quality installation of insulation in residential and commercial buildings, working both inside and outside in crawl spaces, attics and basements to insulate these areas.

SUMMARY

Responsible for all aspects of installing company products according to work order, manufacturer, quality and safety guidelines. Products include insulation, home wrap and any other products sold by the company. Responsible for observing and following all OSHA and Company Safety policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Responsible for meeting Division requirements for punctuality and attendance.

· Conducts daily documented inspection of vehicle, power tools, ladders, scaffold, fire extinguisher, and any other work related equipment

· Load and unload insulation materials

· Reviews work order and loads required ladders and scaffolds onto truck.

· Ensures truck has any product, tools, or equipment needed to properly complete the product installations scheduled for the day.

· Completes or signs off on Material Load In/Load Out.

· Follows Division specific requirements for morning truck roll out procedures.

· Follows or assists driver in following all public transportation laws for all drive time to and from job sites.

· Conducts job site safety pre-inspection.

· Unloads and stages material at job site following all lifting and material handling guidelines.

· Complete prep work for installation, may include foaming penetrations, caulking gaps, installing baffles, etc.

· Cut sections of Batt insulation to the proper fit, install in walls, ceilings and floors, as required

· Install mesh fabric (or netting)

· Load blower machine with fiberglass, cellulose, or rock wool insulation; regulate flow of materials. Blow to appropriate depth/density

· Install vapor and air barriers as needed

· Use common hand tools such as knives, scissors, saws, foam guns and staple guns

· Properly maintain equipment and tools

· Follow safety guidelines and procedures

· Ensure clean job site

· Installs product per work order, manufacturer, quality and safety guidelines.

· Completes post-installation quality check and verifies product installation meets inspection codes.

· Responsible for picking up waste created at the job site and returning unused material to the truck for use at next job site or return to Division.

· Responsible for reporting safety, customer or quality concerns that interfere with the completion of assigned jobs to Division management.

· Ensures that installation schedules are met.

· Follows Division specific requirements for returning truck, materials, tools, equipment and work orders to Division at end of day.

· Performs warehouse related duties as required.

· Responsible for accurately recording work day start/end times and lunch start/end times either on Truck Mounted Device (TMD) or any other mechanism used by the Division.

· Other duties as assigned

Authorized Drivers:

· Responsible for the inspection and condition of truck.

· Responsible for the safe operation of truck in compliance local public transportation laws.

· Responsible for using spotter when backing up the vehicle.

· Must immediately report to Management any tickets, fines or violations on Motor Vehicle Report.

· Responsible for individual and crew compliance with all company and branch policies and procedures.

· Any other duties, tasks, or responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

· Minimum Degree: High School Diploma or GED

· Special Certification or Licensing: For authorized driver status, must have a valid Driver’s License.

· Must be able to obtain MCS/MVR approval. Obtain other certifications/licenses as required.

· Special Requirements: Need to work overtime and weekends as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS

· Able to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide, volume and area etc.).

· Able to take physical measurements and interpret instruction drawings.

· Ability to learn operation of tablet/electronic devices.

· Ability to learn operation of Employee Self Service portal.

· Requires self-initiative and ability make independent decisions related to completing job.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Type of Travel Required: Local; Out of town travel as required.

Amount of Travel Required: >50%

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

· Manual dexterity to load and unload various products.

· Must be able to work in all weather conditions – inclement weather

· Must be able to climb ladders using 3 point contact

· Must be able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.

· Must be able to move products/objects weighing as much as 500 lbs. using a two-wheel dolly.

· Must be able to climb, stoop, balance, kneel, crawl, lift and do a lot of standing, bending, kneeling, and ladder climbing. This includes attics, confined spaces and small areas

· Must be able to work at heights greater than 8 ft.

· Must be able to work over 8 hours per day on occasion

· Requires the safe usage and handling of tools and equipment including ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical lifts
