The College of Technical Sciences at Montana State University Northern ( MSUN ), invites applications for an academic-year (10-month), tenure-track Instructor of Diesel Technology anticipated to begin August 1, 2023.

Effective teaching is the primary mission of this position at MSU Northern.

The instructor will teach approximately 24 credit hours of lecture/laboratory courses per academic year. Courses assigned will be in Diesel Technology/Agriculture Mechanics Technology and may include but not limited to: hydraulics, engines, fuel systems, electrical/electronic systems, powertrains, chassis, shop management, and ag equipment maintenance.

Maintenance of laboratory equipment is the responsibility of the hire. The hire will also make sure that the laboratory is kept clean and materials are in their proper place.

Academic and career advising will be a responsibility associated with this position. In addition, the hire will be involved in curriculum development, program growth, program assessment and working with an advisory board. Academic responsibilities will also include serving on campus committees, involvement in campus activities and serving as an ambassador and collegiate member of the College of Technical Sciences.
Duties and Responsibilities Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

  • Associate’s degree in Diesel Technology, a technical or a related field with increasing responsibility and experience demonstrated.

  • Industry experience in the diesel technology field.

  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Demonstrated recent industry work experience with a strong background in electrical/electronics, hydraulics, brakes, suspensions, automatic transmissions, engines, and powertrains in the diesel/heavy equipment or agriculture industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with systems pertaining to diesel powered equipment and if possible gas, diesel & alternative powered systems with increasing responsibilities and duties.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in diesel or related field will be required to be considered for an assistant professor.
o Note: Master’s degree will be required for tenure.
  • Demonstrated strength in interpersonal skills and attributes,
  • Experience and willingness to embrace new technologies.

Title IX Coordinator

The Title IX Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the University’s compliance with federal and state discrimination and harassment laws, including Title IX. The Title IX Coordinator oversees compliance with the University’s Discrimination and Grievance Policy. Specifically, the Title IX Coordinator:
