Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives the public, providing customer assistance to filling out permit applications, checks for accuracy and completeness; invoices and processes payments
- Submits plans to the appropriate authority for approval
- Responds to frequent telephone, e-mail, or in person inquiries regarding construction or building permit requirements, statuses, fees, and inspections
- Checks sources to ensure that person doing electrical, plumbing work are properly licensed
- Receives payments for permits, posts payments, and balances receipts
- Runs various reports for the department and responds to public inquiries
- Maintains accurate files on construction permits
- Accountable for inventory / property management
- Makes recommendations that impact the budget
- Follows the city policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of clerical experience in varied applications
- One plus years of post-secondary education
- Knowledge of municipal government and the development field
- Valid driver’s license
