Description
The Department for Medicaid Services (DMS) provides health care access for eligible low-income residents of Kentucky including children, families, pregnant women, the aged and the disabled as well as a number of programs and services directed at specific eligibility and medical needs. Join the Division of Information Systems in the Systems Management Branch as the Information Systems Supervisor!

Responsibilities and duties include but not limited to:
  • Under general direction, supervises programming, analysis and/or technical support personnel. Directs and facilitates the development and implementation of computer programs and systems, software packages or data base structures; and performs other duties as required.
  • Plans, assigns and supervises the daily operational actives for the Design and Implementation Branch. Assist the Branch Manager on daily operational activities and managing multiple projects.
  • Manages the employees and activates of the Design and Implementation Branch. Provides supports on a large scale Medicaid projects. Project and Vendor Management.
  • Services as a technical resource for business analysts, vendors and policy advisors. Monitor projects deliverables and timelines.
  • Works with users in the development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems. Reviews the work of analysts before implementation.
  • Prepare and monitor status reports on the activities of the branch.
  • Contributes to the creation of and conducts reviews of request for information, request for proposals, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • The ability to work well under pressure
  • A willingness to encourage and mentor the staff under your supervision in order to help them succeed in their positions.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of professional experience in computer programming, systems analysis, systems support, or computer operating systems.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Related technical or vocational training will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year for year basis. A master's degree in computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in computer programming, systems analysis, and/or computer operations will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year for year basis. Experience in business or public administration, statistics, research, or a related field will substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year for year basis.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
