Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

Job Summary

Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) in accordance with the Joint Security Implementation Guide (JSIG), and other DoD instructions, providing guidance and assistance to units involved in classified activities, as required. Establish and maintain accreditation for Information Systems (IS) operating within a classified environment.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform all Information System Security Officer (ISSO) responsibilities in accordance with the Joint Security Implementation Guide (JSIG), and other DoD instructions, providing guidance and assistance to units involved in classified activities, as required.

  • Establish and maintain accreditation for Information Systems (IS) operating within a classified environment.

  • Provide input to and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs) outlining security operating procedures.

  • Assist Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in documentation and maintain continuous positive control and accountability of all IS hardware and software entered into and removed from classified facilities.

  • Assist the Program/Activity Security Manager with initial and recurring training for all personnel afforded access to any information systems. Conduct weekly audits of Local and Wide Area Networks operating in classified facilities.

  • System Administration experience on servers and workstations, network administration experience using various network devices highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of Federal Government SA&A practices and policies, particularly FISMA and NIST Special Publications 800 series.

  • Conduct security inspections on systems and write accreditation documentation.

  • Ability to work independently and also collaborating with application developers, engineers, and others.

  • Report/resolve security incidents.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related discipline.

    • Or five (5) years of experience in IT security, including SA&A and/or IT security risk analysis, preferably in support of the Federal Government.

  • Must be able to obtain DOD 8570 certification IAT 2 within 3 months of hire.


Desired Skills

  • MCSE or equivalent experience in windows systems administration to include Active Directory, Office Servers, and workstation.

  • UNIX/LINUX system administration using SELINUX or equivalent. CISCO or equivalent experience with network devices and firewalls.

  • Experience working on government contracts.

  • Ability to analyze security controls for vulnerabilities and work with system administration teams to resolve or mitigate vulnerabilities in a timely manner.
